The Duty Manager will supervise computerized flight watch of all company aircraft as well as provide direction and support to Flight Followers on duty in the Operational Control Centre. Maintain commercial operational control of all aircraft based out of Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay. Work in collaboration with all company departments to provide a safe, efficient, and profitable operation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Flight Watch
  • Monitor progress of each flight from its point of origin to its final destination, including all intermediate stops or until the Flight Watch responsibilities are transferred to another trained Flight Follower
  • Maintain Flight Watch log utilizing approved company software (Amelia) and the Flight Watch log shall consist of recording all Scheduled or Estimated Departure and Arrival times, all Actual Arrival and Departure times utilizing Skytrac’s satellite tracking capabilities which include engine start and stop, wheels off and on, altitude and speed, track and relative positions to known landmarks or location
  • Review and maintain daily records of completed Flight Dispatch Clearance
  • Advise Pilot-in-Command of any changes that may effect or change the Operational Flight Plan
  • Investigate IROP’s of any departure or arrival delays exceeding 30 minutes
  • Supervise the safe flight watch of all company aircraft under the control of the SOC Centre
  • Initiating emergency response protocols when required
  • Formulate and execute irregular operation recovery plans
  • Advise crew of assignments and ensure check in by prescribed time
  • Compile local weather and runway condition reports for timely distribution to flight crews, monitor and report changes as required
  • Support flight crew as required in the formulation of an Operation Flight Plan
  • Communicate operational information to Flight Crews, Air Traffic Services, Company Directors and Managers via ground to air radio, telephone, fax, E-mail or verbal briefing
  • Review Company Operational Memo’s to ensure compliance with the same
  • Monitor METARs/TAFs and relay content when appropriate or requested
  • Record flight crew daily flight and duty time in appropriate data base
  • Liaise with charter sales department on operational details affecting customer service
  • Liaise with crew scheduling on operational issues affecting flight crew schedules
  • Liaise with reservations department on operational issues that affect passenger travel
  • Liaise with base managers and cargo departments on the coordination of freight and baggage movement
  • Assist with communication between maintenance and flight crew
  • Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers
  • Allocating seating capacity and configuration for scheduled and chartered flights
  • Measure and review Daily On Time Performance
  • Any other related duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-4 years previous airline Operations experience or an equivalent combination of related post-secondary education and work experience

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be a self-starter with proven ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills, MS-Office preferable and proficient in use of internet and email
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Flexible, able to deal with change
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Very organized, with excellent multi-tasking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Ability to lift or move up to 10 lbs;
  • Manual dexterity required to us desktop computers and peripherals
  • Shift work is required
  • Overtime as requested
  • Weekend work is required
  • Travel may be required
